Yovany M (MS RN) - Service Excellence at Northside Hospital, Atlanta
We’re excited to share another story of amazing care from a Travel Nurse we’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years.
This time, we're celebrating another traveler from the Spire network -- Yovany M, MS RN at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. Yovany is an experienced RN and, if you take a closer look at the actual award he was presented with, it reads: “He made sure that I had all my medications and that everything was on point as far as my surgery. He’s a very good nurse.” This is a note from the patient Yovany had taken care of post-surgery in July.
We caught up with Yovany to ask him a bit more about this recognition from his patient:
What was the award and who all were responsible for voting for you?
Yovany: The award is given by a patient that recognize you care while he was recovering from surgery. It is called “I Chose to Care Service Excellent Recognition.”
What did that mean to you as a traveler?
Yovany: In my case I think it is a little different at the hospital. The staff always treat me like I’m part of the team and not only the nurses, also management. Since the first day they were so welcoming and made me feel like a part of the Northside family.
I feel really appreciated and now, having been recognized by a patient about my care, it made me feel really proud for who I have become as a nurse. It takes hard work, adaptability, and flexibility to take you far, but it is worth it!
What sort of initiative did you take to be recognized for the award? Were you empowered by staff to take that initiative or does that come from within?
Yovany: Nothing in particular. I just take care of the patients the same way I do always - I make them feel special and encourage them to work hard to get well.
Congrats to Yovany for such a great achievement and recognition at Northside!
