The Caregiver Diagnostic
One of the one of the axioms we live by is “prescription before diagnosis equals malpractice.”
There is a lot to be said when it comes to deeply understanding what is important to an individual, hearing the inflection in their voice, asking questions that go much deeper than the tip of the iceberg, and so on. In the world of placing healthcare professionals in roles that meet their expectations and help them grow, the prescriptive approach is never a solution.
We get a lot of questions about the Spire “secret sauce” when it comes to working so closely with our travelers — especially how we forge such strong connections and present roles that work well. It’s a little less “secret” and a lot more “local recruiter with a national reach.”
Thus, we utilize a tool we refer to as The Caregiver Diagnostic.
We break down this screening process into 3 different areas:
We like to find out how our candidates work through the decision-making process, how they problem solve, and how they work through the critical parts of their job.
Understanding motivations is key - Must-haves in an assignment, what they like to experience, what gives them energy, and so on. This is a crucial aspect of understanding the style of work they prefer and also the types of assignments and facilities that will suit their line of work best.
Nice-to-haves are also a critical aspect of understanding how the first two portions work in unison. The icing on the cake, if you will. We want to try and match as many aspects of your preferred areas of work, parts of the country, size of facility and so on. Working proactively to find an ideal fit will shrink the likelihood lapse in care, burnout, and so on.
If we can land at least 2 of the 3 above, we’re likely to find you a position that meets your expectations. Contrary to some peers in the space, we don’t simply stop the “get to know you” process with simple, iceberg questions like “Have you ever worked in a 500 bed facility?” Not altogether unhelpful, but it hardly captures the individual’s goals and best case scenarios for top quality fit.
Being a traveler is a tough job and there are a lot of unknowns. We're here to make the unknowns more known and we do this by taking a deep dive with you upfront. And then from there, we utilize good technology to ensure that the jobs that you apply for (and express interest in) are relevant to you.
